Red Wine Orange Cranberry Sauce

Say no to cranberry sauce in a can and say hello to a delicious, mouth watering cranberry sauce that is perfect for your turkey every thanksgiving.

It took me a year to combine the perfect ingredients and measurements to make this recipe. This red wine orange cranberry sauce recipe adds flavor to your dish by balancing the sweet and savory elements.

Ingredients:

12 oz. fresh/ frozen cranberry
1 cup granulated sugar (white)
1 cinnamon stick (2-3 inches)
zest of one large orange
1/4 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
1/2 cup dry red wine
2 tbsp. ginger, finely chopped
1/2 tsp nutmeg and mixed spice

Method:

-In a pot, add all ingredients over medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes.

-Stir occasionally.

-Remove from heat and cool for at least 15 minutes.

Sensitive and Dry Skin Face Mask

Having sensitive skin simply means that when you come into contact with household products or skin care products they cause your skin to tighten, it stings and burns your skin or it causes redness. This can make your skin very uncomfortable.

Having dry skin is having a lack of the appropriate amount of water in the epidermis. The signs of dry skin is a rough, red and dry patch that itches.

This mask will not only hydrates but it will cleanses your skin. It tones, help in your acne and add nutriment to your skin.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp. oats
2 tbsp. avocado, ripped and mashed
1 tbsp. organic raw honey

Combine ingredients.

Apply to a slightly damp and clean skin.

Leave on for 10-15 minutes.

Gently rinse face off.

Pat dry with a clean towel.

Baking With Kids This Thanksgiving

Baking with your kids is a fun little way to bond and teach your child ways around the kitchen. This thanksgiving I implore all parents or guardians to bake with there kids. This will definitely give your child a sense of proud and thankfulness.

So since this is a thanksgiving post, I am going to share with you two different and delicious pies that you can bake your kiddos.

1. Coconut Crème Pie

Ingredients for crust:

1/4 cup sweetened coconut flakes
12 rectangular graham crackers
1 stick butter, melted and slightly cooled
3 tbsp dark brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon powder

Ingredients for Coconut Crème Filling:

1 can coconut milk
Half and Half cream (enough to make 3 cups with the coconut milk)
3 egg yolks
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 cup toasted coconut flakes
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp cinnamon extract
1 tsp mix spice extract
1 tsp rose water
1 tsp coconut extract
1/4 tsp salt

Ingredients for Cream Topping:

1 1/2 cups chilled heavy cream
3 tbsp. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract

Method for crust:

Preheat oven at 325 degrees.
Crush graham crackers then combine with sugar, spices, coconut and butter.
Press crumbs evenly into your pie plate (9 or 10").
Bake for 13-15 minutes
Remove from oven and cool completely before adding filling.

Method for Filling:

In a saucepan combine half and half, coconut milk, egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Bring to a boil over med-low heat, mix until very thick.
Remove from heat then stir in the rest of ingredients.
Pour the custard into the pie crust.
Let it cool for 2-4 hours or until it is firm.

Method for Topping:

Beat the heavy cream with the other ingredients until it makes a stiff peak.
Spread topping over the cooled pie.

2. Pumpkin Cheesecake Pie

Ingredients for crust:

12 rectangular graham crackers
1 stick butter, melted and slightly cooled
3 tbsp. dark brown sugar
2 tsp pumpkin spice
2 tsp cinnamon powder

Ingredients for Crème Cheese Layer:

4 oz. Cream Cheese, softened
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon extract
1 egg

Ingredients for Pumpkin Cheese Layer:

1/2 cup pureed pumpkin
4 oz. Cream, soften
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp mixed spice
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 egg

Method for crust:

Preheat oven at 325 degrees.
Crush graham crackers then combine with sugar, spices, coconut and butter.
Press crumbs evenly into your pie plate (9 or 10").
Bake for 13-15 minutes
Remove from oven and cool completely before adding filling.

Method for Cream Cheese Layer:

Combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, beat until smooth.
Blend in egg.
Pour the creamy batter onto crust.

Method of Pumpkin Layer:

Combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, beat until smooth.
Blend in egg.
Combine pumpkin and spices to mixture.
Carefully spread over the cream cheese batter.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until center is almost set.
Allow to cool before refrigerating for 3 to 4 hours.

How to Host a Thanksgiving Party?

Thanksgiving is an annual holiday which celebrates giving thanks for the blessing of harvest and the acknowledgement of kindness. The feast was first celebrated by the Indians and Pilgrims in 1621.

Hosting a Thanksgiving party doesn't have to be nerve wrecking and disorganized if you plan ahead.

Tips and Tricks

1. Use your time wise

- Plan your menu for the amount of guest you are having.

-Spread the word, invite all your guest.

2. Set Up!

-Set your table the day before to save on time.

-Mix and Match to give a funky and unique look.

3. Pre-prep

-Chop and cut up, measure....do it all either the night before or in the morning.

Invitation

I know must of us are all use to just calling over our guest but these year go fancy and funky with invitation- whether hand delivered, mailed or e-mailed. Your invitation could be made by your kids, designed by you or bought, whatever you do just make sure it goes with your theme.

Decoration

To really add that dramatic effect when your guest walk into your hosting room is to keep the surrounding simple and the dinning or buffet table decorative. Don't be scary to add collective and unique elements that will compliment and enhance your food-don't draw attention way from food. Be adventure in your style and work with what you have.

For the kid's table instead of using table cloth that would likely get stained, plus where is the fun in table cloth when you can have craft paper...

Make kid's table fun with simple decor pieces that can't be swallowed, non -toxic crayons and fun puzzles on the craft paper.

Activities

One tradition that I love is when everyone in the room share what they are thankful for. This holiday is a day of reflecting on all the good in life and being thankful.

Another activity is watching a thanksgiving movie after dinner or during dessert time.

Party Favors

Sending your guest home with a personalized gift is a great way to end your party. It will both be thoughtful for you and you guest will be thankful for this.
