DIY Kid's Room Decor: Mini Animal Canvas
7:00:00 AM
A fun creative DIY that can be done with kids are these mini animal canvases. They add texture, dimension and personality to your kid's room. So why throw out their old animal toy when you can make something amazing.
Materials Needed:
- 5x5 canvas (size optional)
- Plastic Animals
- Exacto knife
- Hot Glue Gun w glue sticks/ E600
- sponge brush
- Acrylic Paint (any colors)
- Paint Spray Primer
- Mod Podge (you can get the matte or glossy one) NB/ I recommend with light colors go with a glossy finish and for dark colors a matte finish.
1. Start by cutting the plastic animals in half then spray the primer on the head part of the animals and let it dry for about an 1 hour.
NB/ Make sure that you cut the animals as even as possible.
2. After animals are dried, paint on the colors both on the canvas and on the animals. This is a fun little project to do with the kids. Let paint dry for about 2 to 3 hours.
NB/ Make sure to layout something to ensure that your surroundings don't get messy. If you made a little spill, clean it up quickly with paint tinier (titles, concrete & hardwood).
3. Glue on the bottom of the animals to the middle of the canvas, hold down the animals to the canvas for about 30 sec. before release. Let it dry for a good hour.
4. After gluing the plastic animal to the canvas you are going to paint on your mod podge as a finish, whether you are going glossy or matte. Depending on your coats, let is dry for 2 to 3 hours before hanging up this work of art.
