Dressing up for a special occasion can be a very challenging task, especially if you’re not used to attending such events very often. Formal clothes can be tricky to choose, and it gets even trickier when it comes to your toddlers’ outfits. If you’re not sure how to pull off formal look for your little ones, stay with us. Here are some dos and don’ts you need to know about.

Stay away of synthetic fabrics

Synthetic fabrics, itchy embellishments and lace should be avoided at all costs – your little one won’t feel pleasant in such outfits, plus there’s the fact that these may cause irritation on their sensitive skin. Seriously, wearing those fancy yet impractical clothes is simply not worth your kids’ discomfort, even if they need to be dressed up just for a couple of hours. Instead, always opt for cotton accompanied with accessories that won’t irritate sensitive skin – this is the best way to achieve glamorous look which is comfortable at the same time.

Opt for easy on-easy off outfits

Even though a real neck tie will look absolutely adorable on your little boy, the truth is that it can get extremely complicated when you start dressing him up. Another important thing when it comes to dressing up your children for a formal event is that you should shop for comfort – they won’t feel pleasant in clothes that are too tight. Besides, such an outfit will not allow kids to move with ease, which may make them feel cranky. So, before making a final decision, it’s essential that your kids try on different outfits. Let them move around a little bit in them – even if they can’t tell that they’re uncomfortable, you will be able to see that the fit is wrong. Formal occasions, such as christening or wedding certainly require specific clothes like smart boys suits, so make sure that you stick to tradition while allowing your children to feel comfortable in their outfits. Don’t let the sleeves dig into their chubby arms, and shirts to pinch their necks – try a looser fit instead and let your little ones enjoy this special day to the max.
